Computer screen display of a human DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) sequence; each row shows the structure of adjacent pieces of DNA. DNA molecules are formed by two interwound strands twisted into a helical shape. The two strands are linked by pairs of substances called bases, of which there are four types known as adenine (green), guanine (yellow), thymine (red) and cytosine (blue). The image was taken at the Genethon laboratory near Paris.
