T2-weighted MRI and grey inversion of the normal brain in a 30-year-old male patient. Coronal section through the brainstem constituted by the midbrain (cerebral peduncles, tegmentum and tectum) the pons and the spinal bulb. The brainstem is extended by the spinal cord. The technique of grey inversion on the T2-weighted MRI images allows for images like those of anatomical sections in black and white: the grey matter appears in dark grey and white matter in light grey.
